COREON session

Time: June 6th, Friday, 11:00 am.

Location: The Pool

“Research in transition: From GDPR to EHDS”

Researchers in the Netherlands and Europe face numerous challenges: a restrictive interpretation of legislation and regulations that differs per Member State, the rapid rise of AI and the development of a European Health Area that the research field must prepare for. The implementation of the GDPR has led to divergent interpretations between Member States, which complicates cross-border research.

Yet there are also opportunities. Large-scale initiatives such as the EHDS create new possibilities for researchers and encourage policymakers to re-evaluate the interpretation of the GDPR. The harmonization of health data within Europe can lead to more robust research results and more efficient international collaboration.

During this interactive COREON session, these challenges and opportunities will be explored from a holistic perspective. Legal experts and internationally experienced researchers will share their insights and practical experiences. Participants will be provided with concrete tools for navigating the changing research landscape and optimally utilizing new opportunities within the current regulations.
